In-Person Assistance — Marriage in Morocco

Local preparation can involve Moroccan documents, medical paperwork, photographs, translations, applicable legalisations and assembly of the application file. Confirm where and how each required step can be completed. Our in-person service is organised in Rabat after advance preparation and review; documents requiring action in their issuing country should be prepared before travel where necessary. Allow separately for preparation before travel, local file preparation and the official process after submission. Our one-day service is an arranged file-preparation day, not completion of the marriage. Completion depends on the required advance preparation, correct documents and availability of relevant offices and services. Court enquiries, appointments, authorisation and signing take place separately and official processing times are outside our control.

Regardless of the city where you plan to marry in Morocco, you must come to Rabat for a number of required documents and administrative steps. This is where the in-person assistance service is completed.

Common questions

Clear answers about what we prepare, what is included and what you need to do.

How long does the marriage process take?

Allow separately for preparation before travel, local file preparation and the official process after submission. Our one-day service is an arranged file-preparation day, not completion of the marriage. Completion depends on the required advance preparation, correct documents and availability of relevant offices and services. Court enquiries, appointments, authorisation and signing take place separately and official processing times are outside our control.

Do I need to attend in person?

Yes. You need to attend in person in Rabat, and we must remain with you throughout the day while we complete all the necessary tasks. You may have one additional person with you, such as your Moroccan fiancé(e), but no more than one additional person.

Are translations included?

Yes. Before you come, we will review your documents and arrange for them to be pre-translated before your file is finalised. Translation fees are separate from and charged separately from the in-person assistance fee.

Will you submit the file to court for us?

We prepare the original court-standard file, three (3) duplicate files and your submission briefing. We also provide guidance on the exact steps you need to follow. Even though we are not with you when you go to the Adoul and court to submit your file, you will know exactly what to do and how the process works, so everything is simple and easy.

Can I use in-person assistance without completing the initial consultation?

No. The Initial Consultation is a required step of our services. Regardless of whether you have prepared documents before coming or think you already know what you need, we must complete the Initial Consultation. It is an extremely important part of the process.

Can I rely on ChatGPT, other AI tools, Facebook groups or online forums for marriage advice?

Not completely. AI tools can provide general information, but you should never rely on them as a complete or definitive source of advice for your personal circumstances. Artificial intelligence cannot reliably confirm the precise requirements of every local court, district and city in Morocco, and the documents required can vary according to where your marriage will take place and your individual situation. We have assisted clients who relied on AI-generated information, travelled to Morocco and then contacted us after discovering problems with their document preparation.

Facebook groups and online forums can contain genuine experiences from people who have completed the marriage process. However, their information is specific to their nationality, country of birth or residence, personal circumstances, marriage city, district and court. Some advice may be correct for that person but incomplete, outdated or unsuitable for you. With so much conflicting information online, it is easy to become confused about which requirements actually apply.

This is why specialised guidance from the beginning is the safest and most effective approach. We confirm the requirements that apply to your circumstances and local court, guide you through every step, answer questions by email and WhatsApp, provide as much clarification as you need and review your preparation to help prevent avoidable mistakes.

Marriage in Morocco: Documents, Legalisations and FAQs

Do my documents need an apostille or legalisation?

Authentication and translation serve different purposes. An apostille authenticates the origin of an eligible public document where the Apostille Convention applies; other documents may require a different legalisation route or qualify for an exemption. Documents executed by diplomatic or consular agents are excluded from that Convention. Do not assume every document needs both an apostille and further legalisation. Confirm the route for each document with the issuing authority and receiving authority.

Is a certified translation the same as legalisation?

A certified translation provides the document contents in the required language; it does not replace an apostille or legalisation. Confirm which documents and authentication certificates need certified Arabic translation and the acceptable translator requirements. Agree the order of authentication and final translation before commissioning the work. Keep names and dates consistent across the originals and translations.

Do embassy documents follow the same authentication procedure?

Authentication and translation serve different purposes. An apostille authenticates the origin of an eligible public document where the Apostille Convention applies; other documents may require a different legalisation route or qualify for an exemption. Documents executed by diplomatic or consular agents are excluded from that Convention. Do not assume every document needs both an apostille and further legalisation. Confirm the route for each document with the issuing authority and receiving authority.

Can you help with legalisations in Morocco?

Local preparation can involve Moroccan documents, medical paperwork, photographs, translations, applicable legalisations and assembly of the application file. Confirm where and how each required step can be completed. Our in-person service is organised in Rabat after advance preparation and review; documents requiring action in their issuing country should be prepared before travel where necessary.

Will you submit the file to court for us?

Our role is preparation guidance, document review and, when booked, practical file-preparation assistance. The adouls and competent court have separate official responsibilities. Our service does not replace those responsibilities, issue marriage authorisation, submit the file on your behalf or guarantee approval. Follow the confirmed local procedure for submission, enquiries, authorisation and signing.
