This is an overview, not a complete checklist. Your nationality, issuing country, residence, personal circumstances and receiving court affect the documents, formats and validity periods. Confirm your checklist before ordering documents or booking travel.

Check your consular procedure early

Do not assume every embassy issues the same marriage documents. Your nationality and residence may determine whether you need documents obtained before travel, a consular declaration in Morocco or another procedure. Check current official instructions for your country and confirm what your receiving court requires before booking appointments. Allow for appointment availability and document-issuance times.

Apostilles and legalisations

Authentication and translation serve different purposes. An apostille authenticates the origin of an eligible public document where the Apostille Convention applies; other documents may require a different legalisation route or qualify for an exemption. Documents executed by diplomatic or consular agents are excluded from that Convention. Do not assume every document needs both an apostille and further legalisation. Confirm the route for each document with the issuing authority and receiving authority.

Certified Arabic translations

A certified translation provides the document contents in the required language; it does not replace an apostille or legalisation. Confirm which documents and authentication certificates need certified Arabic translation and the acceptable translator requirements. Agree the order of authentication and final translation before commissioning the work. Keep names and dates consistent across the originals and translations.

Preparing your file in Morocco

Local preparation can involve Moroccan documents, medical paperwork, photographs, translations, applicable legalisations and assembly of the application file. Confirm where and how each required step can be completed. Our in-person service is organised in Rabat after advance preparation and review; documents requiring action in their issuing country should be prepared before travel where necessary.

Your preparation team, the adouls and the court

Our role is preparation guidance, document review and, when booked, practical file-preparation assistance. The adouls and competent court have separate official responsibilities. Our service does not replace those responsibilities, issue marriage authorisation, submit the file on your behalf or guarantee approval. Follow the confirmed local procedure for submission, enquiries, authorisation and signing.

Preparation time and court processing

Allow separately for preparation before travel, local file preparation and the official process after submission. Our one-day service is an arranged file-preparation day, not completion of the marriage. Completion depends on the required advance preparation, correct documents and availability of relevant offices and services. Court enquiries, appointments, authorisation and signing take place separately and official processing times are outside our control.

Budget for separate costs

Distinguish service fees from translation charges, document-issuance and authentication costs, and fees associated with the adouls and official procedure. Ask for applicable charges before committing. Translation fees are quoted separately. Country editions retain their own published currency and fees; the main and International editions retain euro pricing.

Personalised guidance and in-person assistance

General information cannot replace a checklist tailored to both partners. Initial Consultation provides preparation guidance for the foreign partner and Arabic-language guidance for the Moroccan partner. Physical attendance, office visits and hands-on local file preparation are provided through the separate In-Person Assistance service. Your circumstances and receiving court determine the detailed preparation plan.

HCCH — Apostille Convention

Document requirements Certified Arabic translations Initial Consultation In-Person Assistance Marriage in Morocco: Documents, Legalisations and FAQs

Getting Married in Morocco as a Foreigner: Documents and Process Guidance for foreign nationals marrying Moroccan citizens: document preparation, legalisations, translations and the marriage application process.
