An apostille authenticates the origin of an eligible public document where the Apostille Convention applies; other documents may require a different legalisation route or qualify for an exemption. Documents executed by diplomatic or consular agents are excluded from that Convention. Do not assume every document needs both an apostille and further legalisation.
